FAQs

How often should I see a dentist?

Children, teens, and adults should all see the dentist for a regular checkup at least once every six months. Patients who are at a greater risk for oral cancer or gum disease may be required to see the dentist more than just twice a year. Dr. Burkett will help determine how often you should visit the dentist for regular checkups.

When to Schedule Your Child’s First Appointment?

The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend that a dentist should see a baby by the age of one. An appointment at this young age is beneficial because it allows us to monitor important milestones such as teething and proper facial development.

When Will the First Baby Tooth Appear?

Every child is unique, which means there is not a specific timeframe for the eruption of the first baby tooth. Most babies begin teething between four to twelve months of age. Your child should have 20 primary teeth (ten on the top and ten on the bottom) by the age of three.

What If I have a Dental Emergency?

Dental emergencies can include facial trauma that damages the structure of the teeth or jaw, loss of a permanent tooth, severe tooth pain, or signs of infection. If you believe you have a dental emergency, please give us a call right away at 812-422-1135.
